Irregular Verbs

Here is a useful list of irregular verbs. Remember that there are more Regular than Irregular verbs.

Regular verbs: You need to know the infinitive form, and from the infinitive you get the other forms of the verb by adding an ending (suffix):

Infinitive + -ED : Past Simple and Past Participle. To work - worked - worked (working)

Irregular verbs: You need to know the Infinitive, Past Simple and Past Participle :

To Cut - Cut - Cut (Cutting) // To buy - bought - bought (Buying) // To go - Went - Gone (Going)

Irregular Verbs in English

Here is a list of irregular verbs. They are listed in order of how often they appear in real English as shown by the famous Lancaster-Bergen corpus. These 50 in this order represent an incredible 87% of irregular verb occurrence in English. The other 80 irregular verbs in English make up the other 13%. If you are able to learn by heart merely the first eleven , that will equip you to deal with fully 50% of the usage of irregulars in English
